Screach at EYE’S VEYEP Gatwick event

A few weeks back we had the privilege of being involved in EYE Corp’s fantastic showcase at Gatwick Airport.

The event, named VEYEP was a chance for journalists, clients and partners to take a look at EYE’s new digital media solutions. For the event, we created an EYE experience which allowed users to customise messages to friends and family on one of EYE’s digital screens. Users were able to connect to the screen through Screach then select the message options they preferred. The options included who the message would address, the body of the message and then customised design features that you wanted to show up with the message.

It’s been great working with an organisation like EYE on this project and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

C4 to pilot Screach for Dispatches

We’re very excited to announce that Channel 4 will be trialling our Screach technology for its current affairs programme, Dispatches.

Channel 4 will be using Screach to provide a second screen experience allowing viewers to gain additional information related to the programme in real time, through their smart devices. The pilot is part of the broadcaster’s £2m converged format pot.

It’s very exciting news for us to be part of the pilot, we’ve long seen the potential of Screach in TV. We’ll be keeping you posted on the full details of the Screach Dispatches experience.

PepsiCo 10 Pitch Video

As we were lucky enough to be chosen as one of this year’s PepsiCo 10, we wanted to share with you the video we created to pitch Screach to Pepsico. Take a look and let us know what you think.

We also read a really great BBC article this week where Ian Ellington, general manager of Walker’s Crisps, spoke about the inspiration and new way of working that he hopes the PepsiCo 10 finalists will bring to the PepsiCo organisation. It’s a very cool insight into how PepsiCo works and their outlook on small start-ups. You can read it here.

Hope you enjoy the video…

How we created the Swiftcover.com Screach experience

Dave PottsOur Screach Experience Master, Dave Potts, gives you an insight into how the design and development guys created the Swiftcover.com Screach experience…

As Swiftcover.com’s Screach experience went live today, I wanted to give you a bit of a behind the scenes look into how we created this motion controlled, multiplayer game.

The whole idea was to create something really fun that could get everyone involved in a way that would be memorable to them. They concept was designed to be fun and laid-back and opened a new way for consumers to converse with Swiftcover.com in a manner that wasn’t one way like a lot of traditional advertising.

Swiftcover.com’s mantra is all about getting a quote in 60 seconds so we took this and adapted it to what we thought was an exciting way for the public to get together to enjoy what Swiftcover.com had to offer.

We came up with the idea of an American road trip – what could be more fun than that? Here are the initial sketches that we put together for the on-screen and in-app content…

SwiftCover.com sketchesOnce the designs were put in place, it was time to start building with our unique language, ScreachML. ScreachML is the language that allows our technology to interact from one platform to another. We had decided to really make a statement and try something new with the SwiftCover.com experience. We wanted to show what Screach was capable of and to also create a buzz around the site. We decided that the best way to do this was to make the game motion controlled.

We also used Screach’s multiplayer functionality. Creating a group or community feel is what a lot of the Screach experiences are about.  It makes the experience more memorable and stimulating for the user and both the motion control and multi-player aspects would help to achieve this. They are both great features for creating a real buzz around the site.

The SwiftCover.com experience

One of my favourite things about the SwiftCover experience is that you can customise the features too. Users were able to select the car colour and model that they wished to use which is a great way to give them some ownership and really personalise the experience to them.

If you want to learn more about how to make your own Screach experiences then you can find out more information, including  reference guides at Dev.Screach.com.  As Screach is an open platform, it’s really easy to start learning how to build your own experiences. We’d welcome any feedback about our Swiftcover.com experience. If you fancy trying to build your own experience then stay in touch too and let us know how you get on.

We’ve been selected as a PepsiCo 10 winner

The full team in funky avatar form. Do you fancy being on here?

We are very excited to announce that we have been chosen as one of the prestigious PepsiCo 10!

Every year PepsiCo run their PepsiCo 10 programme, ‘designed to discover and support innovative technology companies whose ideas and solutions can be applied to drive business value for PepsiCo’. We are truly honoured that this year we have been selected as one of their final ten winners.

As part of the process we created a 3 minute video pitching Screach and what the technology means for the future. We then met a panel of judges in the final round before hearing the ultimate verdict. It’s fantastic that an organisation like PepsiCo has seen the potential in our technology.

As a result of the win we’ll execute a pilot programme with PepsiCo UK Brands, receive £10,000 prize money and get the amazing opportunity to work with industry leading mentors. We can’t wait to get started!

Screach makes digital signage at Wembley Stadium interactive

Screach at Wembley

UPDATED! We were very pleased with how the The Rugby Football League Screach experience went at Wembley, as were the RFL. Here’s Screach on the day during its Wembley debut.

RFL Marketing Manager, Phil William said : “The fans really engaged with Screach and by integrating video into the quiz it really brought the experience to life. We were very happy with the way Screach worked and will consider utilising the technology at some of our other events.”

Screach is making its Wembley debut this weekend as the Rugby Football League use our interactive app to enhance the half time experience for fans at the Carnegie Cup Final.

Fans of Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors will be able to download the Screach app and take part in a half time quiz testing their rugby knowledge. The half time quiz will be displayed on the 13x8m screen in Wembley Stadium for all to see. Fans will then be able to watch famous rugby clips on the big screen and then answer a question relating to the clip by choosing from the multiple choice answers that appear within the Screach app on their smart device, creating a two way interaction.

Two winners will be automatically selected, based on how quickly they answered and how many questions they answered correctly, and will then see their Facebook profile image appear on the digital screen for the whole crowd to see.

The RFL is also using Screach as a way to deliver a reward to fans for interacting. Everyone that takes part in the Screach half time quiz will be entered into a prize draw for two VIP Hospitality packages for the Gillette Four Nations double header in Wembley this November.

We’re very excited to have Screach at one of the world’s most famous sporting venues. It’s a fantastic example of how interactive technology is changing the digital-out-of-home arena and really bringing something innovative and engaging to users.

Screach is perfect for his kind of environment and is bringing a new level of entertainment to a traditional sporting event.

The RFL Carnegie Cup will take place on Saturday 27 August at Wembley Stadium.

New to Screach: Instant Chat Experience

Our Experience Wizard, Michael Crosby, has been busy building a brand new experience for clients to take advantage of. Read about the features that your consumers could enjoy with ‘Screach Me’…

Tell us about the new Screach experience that you have created?

It’s called ‘Screach Me’ and it’s allows users to chat instantly. It’s evolved a lot from its initial concept because as we began building it, we started to realise that it had a lot more capabilities that we’d initially thought.

It lets you connect with people around you, be it in a social, leisure, or business capacity. All you have to do is enter the relevant code into your Screach app and then connect with Screach through Facebook when prompted. After that you’ll be given options as to who you’d like to pair up with, so if the experience was being used to assist with speed dating you’d select either male or female, or if it was being used at a conference perhaps you’d select ‘venture capitalist’ or someone relevant to that event.

Once you’ve tapped in who you would like to meet, Screach will begin to ‘pairing’ whereby it selects relevant people to connect you with. During this process, if you’re displaying the experience on a digital screen you’ll be able to watch everyone being paired up. Next you’ll be able to see the Facebook profile image of the person you’ve been paired with and you’ll be asked to select whether you would like to chat to this person. If you tap ‘yes’ then you’ll open a chat client within the app which allows you to chat in real time to the person you’ve connected with.

We’ll also be adding features so that you can save the other person’s details if you wish, such as a business card for example. You’ll also have the control to decide how long people get to chat before they are paired with a new person too.

What features does this experience have that we haven’t seen before?

The main thing is the chat client. There was a similar chat feature used in a past experience but it was a public chat whereby all chat comments made were shown publicly in a feed. The new chat however,  allows private conversations and the chance to chat with different people one after another. All discussions will also be shown in a similar way to how iPhone messages are displayed.

The chat all takes place in real time and it works really well. I’ve been testing it and chatting to some of our team in Romania and it worked perfectly. It’s a very exciting feature because it shows off more of Screach’s capabilities. All of our previous experiences have included interactions that were phone to screen, screen to phone but ‘Screach Me’ allows phone to phone interactions too.

Who is going to love this experience?

It’s perfect for big conferences as it is a really powerful tool for assisting with networking. It could also work really well as a speed dating tool, basically it’s great for any occasion where you want to want to help people connect.

We’ve already been chatting to some organisations that love it so it’s great that there is a buzz around it and people can see its huge potential.

You can take a look at the below images of ‘Screach Me’ to see how it all works…
